🧠 CHEAT CODES

✍️ Note-Taking Strategy

  1. Divide your erasable notebook into three equal sections:
    • Label them S1, S2, and S3
    • Each section corresponds to one speaker

  2. Write notes inside the appropriate sections as each speaker talks:
    • Use S1 for Speaker 1
    • Use S2 for Speaker 2
    • Use S3 for Speaker 3

  3. Follow the “5-second listen, 5-second write” rule (borrowed from the Retell Lecture task)
    • Aim to capture as many phrases or short sentences as possible
    • The more you write, the better your coverage

  4. Identify agreement or disagreement between speakers:
    • For example: “S1 agrees with S2” or “S2 disagrees with S3”

  5. Use a structured speaking format or template given below that suits your comfort. Maintain a logical flow and order.

  6. Speak continuously with rhythm. Avoid fumbles or hesitation. Let your speech flow naturally.

  7. If you misinterpret any part, do not stop or correct yourself. Continue confidently.

🗣️ SPEAKING FORMATS

✅ Speak with a Structure

  • Body 1: talk about speaker 1
  • Body 2: talk about speaker 2
  • Body 3: talk about speaker 3
  • Conclusion: 1 line

✅ Speak with a Template

  • Intro: ____ speakers were talking about ______.
  • Body 1: Firstly, the first speaker believed _______. He mentioned that _______. He also said that_______
  • Body 2: as far as second speaker is concerned, he said ________. He was of the view that ________. In the end, he mentioned that________
  • Body 3: the third speaker also mentioned that________. He continued to say ________. He also said_______
  • In conclusion:_______

❌ COMMON MISTAKES TO AVOID

• Writing keywords instead of phrases: many students opt for writing keywords as it is easy but this method do not guarantee full marks
• Using lengthy templates: lengthy templates stand a chance to be considered generic templates and software may flag it for human intervention. Be careful.
• Trying to correct the sentence grammatically: avoid this as grammar won’t matter but fluency alone does
• Speaking for entire 120 seconds: more you speak, more mistakes you make: 90 seconds is more than enough
• Keeping the pen cap unclosed: after taking notes, keep the cap closed. Else, ink will dry up
• Checking 3rd Party Scores: Avoid using non-Pearson apps for scores; they won’t match Pearson’s accuracy.
• Speaking immediately after audio ends: After the audio ends, wait for 10 seconds. The mic will turn on only after this time.
