✍️ Note-Taking Strategy
Divide your erasable notebook into three equal sections:
• Label them S1, S2, and S3
• Each section corresponds to one speakerWrite notes inside the appropriate sections as each speaker talks:
• Use S1 for Speaker 1
• Use S2 for Speaker 2
• Use S3 for Speaker 3Follow the “5-second listen, 5-second write” rule (borrowed from the Retell Lecture task)
• Aim to capture as many phrases or short sentences as possible
• The more you write, the better your coverageIdentify agreement or disagreement between speakers:
• For example: “S1 agrees with S2” or “S2 disagrees with S3”Use a structured speaking format or template given below that suits your comfort. Maintain a logical flow and order.
Speak continuously with rhythm. Avoid fumbles or hesitation. Let your speech flow naturally.
If you misinterpret any part, do not stop or correct yourself. Continue confidently.

❌ COMMON MISTAKES TO AVOID
• Writing keywords instead of phrases: many students opt for writing keywords as it is easy but this method do not guarantee full marks
• Using lengthy templates: lengthy templates stand a chance to be considered generic templates and software may flag it for human intervention. Be careful.
• Trying to correct the sentence grammatically: avoid this as grammar won’t matter but fluency alone does
• Speaking for entire 120 seconds: more you speak, more mistakes you make: 90 seconds is more than enough
• Keeping the pen cap unclosed: after taking notes, keep the cap closed. Else, ink will dry up
• Checking 3rd Party Scores: Avoid using non-Pearson apps for scores; they won’t match Pearson’s accuracy.
• Speaking immediately after audio ends: After the audio ends, wait for 10 seconds. The mic will turn on only after this time.
